Princess Cecilia de Medici

Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, the La Gesse Foundation was established in 1981 by  Princess  Cecilia  de  Medici to promote young American pianists who have proven their artistry, but need assistance in expanding their performing opportunities.

The  Foundation presents these young artists at the annual La Gesse Festival at l'Hotel d' Assezat, which  houses  the museum  of the Bemberg Foundation in Toulouse, France;  at the  Liszt Academy in  Budapest, Hungary; in  Florence,  Italy; in Triberg, Germany; and at other venues in Europe.

In addition, the Foundation presents another festival each year at Carnegie Hall, New York, and sponsors La Gesse artists in recital, in chamber music ensembles, and as soloists with orchestras. Works by composers who have been Artists-in-Residence at La Gesse are often premiered at these concerts.

His  Excellency  the  Ambassador  of  France  has  provided  generous  and  exceptional patronage, which  has  included  hosting receptions at his residence and at the Embassy in Washington, DC,  and at the  Cultural  Services of the  Embassy in New York.

The Foundation is a non-profit organization supported entirely by private contributions.
